Susan G. Luster: Into the Woods
Susan Luster’s handpainted stoneware tiles of leaves and flowers capture impressions from a walk through the woods. Drawing from the natural design of plants and trees, she combines the essence of plant structures with her unique treatment of clay. Susan presses real leaves into the wet clay and paints the impressions before firing with her signature copper glaze. The resulting impressions appear to be alive in the clay. Tiles are framed with river birch branches. Functional platters and vases are finished with the same leaf treatment. Grace your abode with one of these stunning creations, their serene simplicity will enhance any decor with a fresh and timeless beauty. Take a stroll through nature’s design with Susan’s lovely organic pieces.

Studio 180 Salon and Lucid Element Multimedia are proud to support our local arts community by serving as a host venue for the Cary Art Loop’s Final Friday events. On the final Friday of select months, we feature a local artist with a reception and cocktail from 6-9 pm. So, come join us at the studio for great works, wine and hors de’ oeuvres and get in the Loop

This month through November 2012, we will display works by Raleigh artist and Pin-Art founder, Steve Tagsold. Pin Art began in 2006 and is a modern, fun style of art consisting solely of pushpins. Depicting famous figures throughout history, music, politics, theater, religion and sports, each design is collaged out with thousands of painted and strategically placed plastic pushpins.

“When people think of pushpins, most think of them as an office supply, but I think of them as a tool to create unique, distinctive pieces of art. A single pushpin is a simple form when it stands alone, but when combined with others and viewed from a distance, it’s transformed into another image all together.

Pin Art is a contemporary fun style of art that anyone can enjoy!”

– Steve Tasgold
