Coffee and Crepes

This month we feature two well-established local painters at very “giftable” prices. Spiff up your house for the holidays or drop a hint to your loved ones. Constance Pappardo has created 12 x 12 paintings in a variety of her distict abstract styles. Lois Bronstein’s still life paintings of fruits and veggies are perfect for kitchens. Original art is a thoughtful gift that will lift your spirits in many ways.

We continue with one more Final Friday outdoor artist reception event this year!  Oct 29 from 7-9PM Rhythmicity will be providing music in costume on the patio in front of our store. Come out for some free locally roasted Larry’s Beans coffee and enjoy some new works of art.

This month through January 2011, we are pleased to show works by artist Addison Paige. All artists are drawn to making art from basically the same deep need to create something visual to express who we are and what we have a need to say. Addison is an artist because it is who she is and what she does. She couldn’t imagine doing anything else with her life. Art colors the way she views the world around her, and the world affects the way she makes art. Her work is full of past influences, personal history, and emotional interactions.

She has worked with many different types of art and materials over the years from painting wood to making custom clocks and mirrors sold through galleries across the country. In 1995, Addison joined her brother, Eric Paige, and founded “What will the neighbors think?” Soon after, they began producing custom plexiglass works.

This month through September, we are pleased to show works by artist David Welch. A native of Wilmington, NC, David is on a never-ending journey of self discovery as an expression of his inner creative spirit. He began as a child sketching anything and everything with pencil, then moving into pen and ink comic book character design. As a teenager, he became fascinated with clay sculpting and charcoal portraits.

Over time, David has showcased his works in media such as character design for animated film shorts and comics as well as several murals including one featured at the NC School of Communication Arts to honor the families affected by the 911 attacks.

“I loved the creative expression that art allowed me to have no matter what medium was available. No rules just the quiet bliss of my imagination.”

David now lives in Sanford, NC with his wife, Karen and sons, Gabriel and Israel. For more info visit http://www.daggerroom.com/jdwelch/ or email David at:jdwelchideastolife@gmail.com

This month through July, we are pleased to show works by artist Richard Jason. Richard has been working with wood as a craftsman for 20 years. He has recently discovered a new twist to his passion – how to bring nature closer to those who may not be so fortunate to truly experience and appreciate it.

Each piece is individually custom handcrafted with birch or oak so you are guaranteed that your piece will be a “one-of-a-kind”.

Richard’s works will be on display and for sale at Studio 180 Salon starting in April, 2010 and we will be hosting an artist reception on Friday, April 30th 6-9pm.
